Have already seen Sing Street twice which is notable since I rarely rewatch. That kid Ferdia was amazing. Moonlight and Hell or High Water were two of my favorites of the year for very different reasons. Quite enjoyed the first two of your boys films, Hunt... and Little Men--I need to see the third, Morris from America. We just saw Midnight Special streaming. Very enjoyable. I love Shannon and, I have to say, the ending worked for me. La La Land had me from the first note. And several others...

On your list to see: I saw Fences by myself at Broadway. Amazing performances by Denzel and Viola but also the son. Though I couldn't help wonder if it could have kept the feel of a play while also offering a bit more cinematic energy. AND yes see the sundance film, Other People, with Jesse Plemmons (innocent/crazy kid in Breaking Bad--oh, wait you haven't seen BB :) The scene with the whole family on the bed together was...whole.

Not on your lists but I enjoyed: Miss Hokusai--anime with some heft; The Beatles; Life Animated--Suskind coming to know his autistic son; Green Room--get me some horror!; Embrace of the Serpent--definitely some work involved in this one but the kind of film that will never leave my system.

Still really really need to see: Manchester by the Sea and Loving. Also, after reading your list, I want to see Queen of Katwe and Miles Ahead. Somehow missed hearing about these.

As always, thanks so much for this. Your list pushes me to review my own year of film and to plot out my movie watching for the next few months. Love it.
I had ..."Tough darts, farmers". Love it.

I had a hard time with Fantastic Beasts. Jay made fun of my dubious entrance into the theater, then agreed with it when the movie was over. I didn't care enough about the creatures and CERTAINLY don't think the Scamander series needs five (FIVE!) more movies.

Captain Fantastic is a movie that still flashes through my mind from time to time. It gave me so many things to think about; particularly private vs. public schooling.

The Lobster messed with my mind, but the story's audacity was fun to be immersed in.

I feel like Zootopia was visually beautiful, but I felt like the directors forecefully shoved their message down my throat. I get it--don't have racial prejudices. Wall-E, I get it...Don't destroy our planet.

I loved The Hunt for the Wilder People. That young boy better be in more movies in the future. The story warmed my heart.

I didn't get Hail, Caesar! I didn't get it! I don't think I am the audience for it.

Let's see a movie soon!Diane_girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12977268667204324652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11240270.post-55810014506856782672017-01-03T10:21:16.822-08:002017-01-03T10:21:16.822-08:00I've been waiting for your movie round up. It ...I've been waiting for your movie round up. It is one of my favorite things!!
Moonlight isImy favorite of the year, no question. I love, love, loved it. I wanted to like La La Land more than I did, but I DID like it quite a bit. The ending kind of killed it for me. Sorry! I also loved Manchester by the Sea, and would put it at number 2. I definitely think Casey Affleck will win for best actor. Man! Heart-break.
I liked Rogue One more than I thought I would, with you on the droid. Best character, though I also loved the blind monk. This is my favorite new SW bit. I liked Dr. Strange, but thought it was a bit slow. But the visuals were amazing.
In a funny coincidence, I just saw How to Be Single last night and it was way better than I expected. I thought it was funny, though bits were somewhat overwrought. A great cast, though. Must admit here that I have a bit of a crush on Jake Lacy.
I have to see Hell or High Water. Also want to see Loving. Not sure what else..Sundance is almost upon us!Dr Writehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16408687271313205905noreply@blogger.com
